JUNIOR WILDLIFE RANGER
CODE OF CONDUCT

Junior Wildlife Ranger promises you the great indoors and outdoors activities. As a Junior Wildlife Ranger, you can learn how to protect and conserve our environment, fauna and flora and how to take care of the land the forest. You will study wildlife up close and learn about nature all around you. There are plenty of skills for you to can master, and you can teach others what you have learned and in doing so you are to comply with the following Code of Conduct.

Respect yourself, others and property.
This means DO NOT be mean toward others or use bad language, fight, steal, tease, etc. It also covers property damage, graffiti or vandalism.

Participate in activities.
This means All Junior Wildlife Ranger to fully participate in all activities that are conducted.

Follow directions.
 Every activity has rules so that we can operate the activity safely and appropriately. There are a lot of fun things to do at but we ask the Junior Wildlife Rangers to follow Supervisor / Facilitator/ Staff direction during these activities.

No put-downs. Examples of this would include teasing, name-calling, racial slurs or inappropriate practical jokes.
·         I will show respect to other Junior Wildlife Ranger and treat them as well as I would like to be treated.
o   I will show respect to Supervisors / Facilitators and cooperate with their instructions.
o   I will be sensitive to the needs of others and not single out anyone based on age, race, gender, ethnicity, type or religion.
o   I will not verbally abuse others by using inappropriate language, gossip, threats, teasing, name-calling, bullying, exclusion or harassment.
o   I will listen to my Supervisors / Facilitators at all times and respect their privacy and personal space.
o   I will respect the environment by refraining from littering and abusing equipment.
o   I will not deliberately cause bodily harm to other Junior Wildlife Rangers or staff. I understand that kicking, punching, hitting, tripping or fighting are not acceptable forms of behavior and will not be tolerated.
o   I will respect the property of other Junior Wildlife Rangers and staff.
o   I will be a positive contributor to and participant in all Junior Wildlife Rangers programs and activities.
o   I understand that these rules and guidelines are for my safety and the protection of the Junior Wildlife Rangers and others.
o   I will listen carefully to rules and instructions and ask questions when I do not understand;
o   If I need help I will go to my Supervisor / Facilitator.


        

PARENT / GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT

As a parent or guardian of a Junior Wildlife Ranger, I understand that:

• I am expected to help my child understand and follow these guidelines;

• I will be notified if my child’s behavior undermines his or her ability, or the ability of other children, to enjoy, benefit from and participate safely in the program;

• If a behavioral issue arises, I will be expected to collaborate with the Junior Wildlife Ranger Supervisor/Facilitator on a strategy to address the problem;

• If my child’s behavior continues to undermine his or her ability, or the ability of other children, to enjoy, benefit from and participate safely in the program, his or her participation in the program may be suspended temporarily or permanently;

• Temporary suspension and/or permanent dismissal from the program are at the discretion of Junior Wildlife Ranger Coordinator.

• Junior Wildlife Rangers will be provided with T-shirt and neckerchief. Junior Wildlife Rangers T Shirt and neckerchief are to be worn during the activities unless being told otherwise.

• If my child is not attending the activities, I will notify the Junior Wildlife Coordinator promptly so as the other JWLR are not delaying activities for my child.

• I understand that my child will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of the following activities and there is potential physical injury risks associated with these activities. Activities include but are not limited to jungle trekking, hiking, camping, wilderness survival, caving and other outdoor recreation activities. Associated physical injury risks include, but are not limited to sprained ankles, cuts, bruises, scratches, allergy, insect bites, sunburn and heat exhaustion.


The following are the consequences of your actions should you choose to violate this code while attending Junior Wildlife Ranger Programme.

1. Junior Wildlife Ranger is made aware of all rules and guidelines again upon arrival.

2. Supervisor / Facilitator will first verbally warn Junior Wildlife Ranger for breaking these rules and guidelines.

3. After warning Junior Wildlife Ranger, if behavior or action still persists, Junior Wildlife Ranger will not participate in that given activity.  

4. If behavior persists, Junior Wildlife Ranger will be segregated from the rest and sent to the Park/ Nature Reserve Administration Office. (Parents will be notified to pick the Junior Wildlife Ranger from the site.)

6. The Team Leader will discuss all decisions thoroughly before any Junior Wildlife Ranger is sent home.

7. The Team Leader reserves the right to send home any Junior Wildlife Ranger if it is decided that it is in the best interest of the program and Junior Wildlife Ranger. Dismissal of a Junior Wildlife Ranger in any activities may result from exclusion from future activities.
